Stellium 1

Stellium 1 datacenter covers an area of more than 4,250m2 and is divided into four 2MW IT data halls. The first operational data hall is fully scalable and can deliver uniform IT rack solutions from 4kW, with local capability of 34kW per rack.

Stellium 1 datacenter has a tested power usage effectiveness (PUE) of 1.2 and conforms to the recommended operating parameters set by ASHRAE. It is one of the most efficient co-location datacenters in the UK and offers a competitive alternative to some of the best-regarded datacenters in continental Europe.

Stellium 1 also has an 825mm raised floor void to create a cooling plenum of air to the racks via a cold aisle. Its computer room air conditioning (CRAC) units are immediately adjacent to the data halls, allowing return air to be recycled back to the CRAC units from high levels.

Total IT data hall space

4,264m2 of IT data hall spread across four 1,066m2 IT halls

Campus electrical power

80MVA via four 20MVA 11kV feeds to two dedicated SSE switch-rooms, with scalability up to 120MVA

IT power density

8.5MW IT power delivering 4kW racks (2kW per square metre) across each of the data halls, with a local capability of up to 34kW per rack

Delivers a design PUE of 1.24 when operated within ASHRAE-recommended temperature and humidity parameters. This was verified, under load test, in the first of a series of IST tests.

Tier III+ design

Complies fully with the Tier III+ requirements of concurrent maintainability, diverse engineering and avoidance of single points of failure
